Club Development Meeting 15th October 2009

Over the last 4 years Old Culverhaysians RFC have been in extensive negotiations with several partners to find a permanent playing facility with a realistic vision of long term stability and sustainability. This site has been identified to be Odd Down playing fields

This vision has led to the development of a Hub Club scheme involving other organizations such as cricket and football as well as Old Culverhaysians as a main lead.

The proposed scheme has been driven by Martin Lynch on behalf of Old Culverhaysians RFC and without his great work we would not have the facility we have at Odd Down that we have today. Old C's management committee and its members are fully supportive of the scheme and recognise that this now offers a playing facility far superior to The Glass House.

In order to move the scheme on to a more committed level from all parties and to secure our long term lease on the site we must now enter into a more formal and structured organisation - This will enable us to apply for various grants and funding as we would have a "security of tenure" on the site, a pre requisite for most funding applications.

Bath
and North East Somerset Council will be our Landlord in any scheme we have at Odd Down and they will play a influential part in its development as we go forward.

Therefore on Thursday 15th October BANES Council will present their recommendations in creating a fully legal, limited liability sports hub club scheme for Odd Down. The meeting will take place at Culverhay School at 7pm, all current Hub Club partners and their members are invited. This is a great opportunity to learn in more detail about the benefits of the scheme for Old Culverhaysians RFC in joining and sharing resources of a hub club scheme.

The presentation will be given by David Lawerence of BANES who has considerable experience in creating a similar scheme at his sailing club which has now reaped huge rewards, including producing Olympic yachtsman.

Please come along to this meeting as it is extremely important for you all to help shape the destiny of our Rugby Club over the coming years, and we need support from all our members to move forward in a positive and timely manner - These are exciting times at Old Culverhaysians RFC and we are committed in making our facilities and rugby experience the best it can be.

If you wish to find out more before the meeting, then please do not hesitate to call either Wayne Miller (07850 968957) or Martin Lynch (07738 804740).

In 2009 Old Culverhaysians Rugby Football club are celebrating their 50th Anniversary.

To celebrate this milestone in the clubs young history, we are holding a series of events throughout our Anniversary year.

To celebrate we have booked the prestigious Guildhall Banqueting room in Bath on Saturday 7th November 2009 to host our event (7.30 for 8pm). The club believes this is a sophisticated and discerning venue to complement our 50th Anniversary celebrations in 2009 and 2010.

Also in a surprise first for Old Culverhaysians we are asking that the wives or partners accompany past and present members of Old Culverhaysians RFC to this black tie and ball gown event.

The evening will consist of a 4-course dinner, comedian and finish off with a live band playing into the early hours.

The cost of the dinner is £35.00 per person, we believe this is a small price to pay for what is guaranteed to be an entertaining and very enjoyable evening.

We are also seeking your help in contacting past members from yesteryear to attend the evening and catch up with old rugby mates. We will endeavor to put you on a table to ensure a really memorable night is enjoyed with friends.

If you have any old memorabilia of your rugby days, such as photos of parties, rugby matches or teams, this will help us in producing our limited edition 50th Anniversary brochure. Please contact Ben Mogg on 07879880764 or email: This email address is being protected from spam bots, you need Javascript enabled to view it for further information on how we can use you memorabilia.

Numbers are strictly limited for this event and I ask that you express your interest as soon as possible by completing the slip below and returning it to the club secretary (at the following address) along with a £10.00 per person non-refundable deposit.
